Seraphina “Phina” Pyre is the Warrior of Light, famed Champion of Eorzea. When not with her loved ones, she primarily focuses on traveling, exploring, and helping those in need.Phina possesses many talents as a warrior, defender, and healer. However, she is not flawless in all aspects of combat and not trained in all disciplines. Her aiming skills with bows and guns are atrocious to the point of self-endangerment, with the odd exception of chakrams, given her love to dance. She also is more adept at large-scale magic, and sometimes struggles with smaller, more detail-oriented magic.Seraphina is an excellent botanist and culinarian, and enjoys spending her free time gardening and cooking - she especially loves sharing meals with anyone eager to enjoy them with her.Phina is a woman of duality, so take care. Backstory

At the northern edge of Gridania’s territory stood a secluded cottage belonging to an elderly Midlander Hyur woman named Sophie Gardner. On a cold, wintery day, Sophie opened her front door to find a little Hyur girl laying at her doorstep. The girl was clutching two notes and a music box, and remained asleep despite Sophie's efforts to rouse her. Hence, she pulled the girl inside, wrapping her in the thickest blanket she had.As the girl slept, Sophie read the two notes, addressed as “To whoever finds this note” and “Seraphina Pyre, my daughter” respectively.The first stated: “Her name is Seraphina Pyre. Please take care of her.”The second stated: “Whenever you feel sad or alone, Seraphina, play this music box and know that my love is always with you - your mother.”Thankfully, after some time, the girl woke. She spoke Eorzean, and was polite and friendly, if a bit naive. The two talked for hours, the girl curious about everything, especially the notes and the music box. However, she couldn’t remember anything before waking at Sophie’s door.Sophie, assuming the girl was left at her doorstep by a desperate mother, decided to care of her. She didn’t understand how the girl had been left at her doorstep without a trace, but she considered the situation a blessing nonetheless, as she had always wanted children but was unable to conceive any with her late husband, Oskar Dane.The young Seraphina “Phina” Pyre was a passionate and curious child - so much so that it was clear Azeyma was the girl’s guardian deity. She constantly explored the nearby wilds, much to the chagrin of her “Grannie Sophie”, but Sophie recognized that nothing she could do would dampen Phina’s spirit. Therefore, she reached out to the nearest settlement, Bird’s Head Village of Ishgard (known for their chocobo husbandry and ranches), to find someone to help hone the girl’s fire.Phina struggled to interact with the children of that village, as few were interested in the bits and bobs of rock and bone that she had collected from the nearby wilds. However, such interests clued in the local hunters, and they took the girl under their collective wing. They found the girl’s aptitude for hunting as intriguing as it was odd, for she struggled with the bow and arrow but excelled with the spear. Before long, Seraphina took to hunting small game on her own, and provided an abundance of meat for her grandmother.The older the girl grew, the larger her prey became. By the time her moon cycle began, she was nearly the height of a fully grown Midlander Hyur woman, and could bring down antelope with ease. However, she itched for bigger game, and began going on hunting trips with the local hunters.One rainy fall day, Phina ventured far east, near the Ala Mhigan border, with a small hunting group picked up from Bird’s Head. She had wandered from the party per her usual curiosity, the others so focused on tracking their quarry that they had forgotten she was missing from their troop.As she wandered the wilds, she noticed smoke in the far distance. Phina marked the trees as she headed in the smoke’s direction, making sure she could be tracked - for whatever reason, she had a sinking feeling in her stomach. Her instinct would prove correct, as she arrived to a smoking ruin of a village. Before she could investigate further, she heard loud voices, and hid. Out of one of the ruined buildings, several men in dark red and black uniforms dragged a woman and two children, a girl and younger boy.Phina couldn’t understand what the men said as the woman began to plead for them to spare her and her children, but Phina froze in horror as she saw one of the men pull out a weapon she had never seen before and shoot the woman dead. The girl began to wail, reaching for the body as one of the men restrained her, while the other child looked on, dumbfounded.The men began to laugh. They began to laugh, as the girl screamed and cried, and the boy remained silent. With bared teeth and incandescent rage, Seraphina lunged at the men with her hunting knife.In the space of a moment, Phina found herself surrounded by corpses, covered in blood. Her heart raced as adrenaline pulsed fire down her veins; she had never felt more alive. That is, until she caught the eyes of the girl, clutching her brother as they shivered in the cold rain. The girl’s eyes were wide with horror at the red soaked teenager, and flinched away when Phina reached out a hand to help. The fire within snapped to ice as Phina pulled her hand back, not knowing what to do, how to help, even as she was desperate to.Fortunately, the hunting band soon arrived. They too were horrified by the scene, but commended Phina for saving the children from the Garlean soldiers and that they would take them back to Bird's Head, as well as escort Phina home. Phina was silent the entire trip back.Phina remained quiet for many months following the incident, horrified by the experience. Eventually, she broke down before her grandmother, desperate to discuss her feelings. Tearfully, she explained her experience of seeing the men kill the woman and laugh at orphans’ pain, the rage that exploded within her in response, and the thrill of hunting them down and inflicting the pain they had so easily mocked. That… and of being witnessed, of being seen as a monster for her deeds, which tempted her still.Sophie took Phina’s hands and explained that one’s actions makes one a monster, not one’s thoughts or feelings, and that while Phina had lost control in some respect, at the end of the day, she had saved two innocent lives. Sophie had faith that Phina would master her passions, both light and dark, with time, experience, and most importantly, compassion and love.Phina took her grandmother’s words to heart and focused on helping others, however she could. By the time she neared adulthood and was nearly 6 fulms tall, Seraphina was on track to head to the city of Gridania and become an adventurer.Unfortunately, in the wake of the Calamity, and Sophie falling ill afterwards, Phina’s journey to adventuring was postponed by nearly 5 years. Within the last year, Sophie sadly succumbed to her illness, but with her dying words, she insisted that Phina follow her curiosity, passions, and dreams, and that with her mother, Sophie would always love her.Having gained a final two ilms of height by this time, Seraphina Pyre headed to the city of Gridania to begin her life as an adventurer.

ENDWALKER SPOILERS AHEAD - DO NOT READ IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE SPOILED FOR LATE GAME CONTENT!!!It was only during the final encounter between herself and Hydaelyn that Phina learned the truth of her origins. She was a creation of the last Azem, her prior incarnation.

Through the destruction of Zodiark and the release of Hythlodeus’ soul, Hydaelyn was able to speak with him and compare her and his experiences to learn the whole truth.

When Phina had traveled back in time to visit Elpis and discovered the truth behind The Final Days, Azem had been observing from a magical mirror gained from a prior adventure. She occasionally checked in on her friends through the mirror, especially Venat as the prior Azem was her mentor and one of her closest friends.

After the events of Elpis, a memory-altered Hythlodeus mentioned to Azem that her “familiar” had been masterfully created, down to the special creator’s mark on nape of the neck, magically hidden to all but the most discerning eye.

Hythlodeus had chosen not mention the mark when he was made aware that Seraphina was from the future, as the mark was something of an inside joke between Hythlodeus and Azem. Azem liked to prank Emet-Selch with personal creations, and would use a creator's mark as a tip-off to Hythlodeus to not mention that she was the one responsible. He had almost spoke of it when Phina revealed that she was from the future, but due to the mark and its context, he had chosen to say nothing.

Once Azem learned of the creator’s mark, and after much deliberation, she decided on what she must do given the knowledge that The Final Days would come, and left the Convocation to pursue her new goal: creating Seraphina’s form.

Phina was seized from her body then, the all-too familiar experience of an Echo vision rushing over her. She looked on as her mother put her plans into motion, her eyes tearful but resolute.

It took the time between Azem's decision and the Final Days to create the body’s form to Azem’s satisfaction. The only other person who knew of this was Hythlodaeus, who Azem requested to consult on her construction, fabricating a story that the familiar he had met in Elpis had become severely damaged, and that she was starting anew. She had also hoped to convince Hythlodaeus not to sacrifice himself to summon Zodiark but did not succeed in changing his mind.

Nearing The Final Days, Azem grew more and more attached to her final creation and was deeply saddened that she would never meet the person she now considered a daughter. She decided that Seraphina was the right name for her, even if it was a non-choice, having learned Seraphina’s name from the mirror - it matched the name of a character from one of Azem's favorite novels, which inspired her on many occasions.

Azem also created a music box to express the love she had for Seraphina and hoped it would provide her solace in dark times.

When The Final Days were upon Etheirys, Azem placed Seraphina’s body into a capsule along with the music box and two magically imbued notes that would be read in the reader’s given language.

Once the capsule was sealed, she inscribed a magical note on the capsule itself that would only reveal itself at Venat’s presence, and placed the capsule into the Lifestream.

Venat, now Hydaelyn, came across the capsule some time later. It was then that she understood why Azem did not answer her call to form Hydaelyn, why Azem had left the Convocation and disappeared. The inscribed note requested Hydaelyn to place the girl back on the star when the time felt right.

Phina returned to the present moment then, the explanation from Hydaelyn also concluded. The twinkle in her eye betrayed the knowledge that she knew Phina had been elsewhere as the Scions had listened to her account.

Depsite her vision, Phina had not heard her mother's true name spoken once. She humbly asked Hydaelyn for the name, as Phina only knew her by her title. Hydaelyn answered, with a smile. “Her true name was Eleos, but to those closest to her, she preferred the name Eos.”

  • Currently looking for mid to long-term, paragraph to multi-paragraph roleplay partners who focus on character interaction, exploration, and development.

  • I strongly prefer roleplay on Discord. Reasons include preferring to have a record of RPs for re-reading, more time to post, larger word count available, and easier to communicate outside of the RP. Open to negotiation, but please keep this information in mind!

  • My character is a WoL! If you are not interested in roleplaying with a WoL, please avoid. However, I am willing to roleplay with another WoL (but we will need to hash out details given my WoL’s backstory)!

  • I am open to explore ideas that range from fluffy, slice of life, to dark and mature! However, dark, mature, and adult themes require an 18+ year old roleplay partner, no exceptions. FYI, I am 26 years old.

  • IC == / == OOC. I am not my character and my character is not me. I'm fine with developing OOC friendships, but no more than that.
